John Murphy - Technical Writer / Project Manager

John MurphyJohn was educated at Rostrevor College in Adelaide, and at Monash and Deakin Universities in Melbourne. He has an undergraduate degree in Professional Writing and a post graduate degree in Computing Science. John is a trained ISO9000 auditor, and worked in the printing and typesetting industries before switching to Information Technology.

John was the Quality Manager for the Telstra Y2K team charged with auditing Telstra’s 13,000 buildings for end of millennium IT issues. He was also the SOCOG Technology Manager for the Common Domain at Homebush during the 2000 Olympics and Paralympics.

He has worked with small to medium sized enterprises to establish core policies, procedures, and processes to assist the enterprise staff to provide consistent customer service which meets and exceeds customers' expectations.

John has had extensive experience with software user manual development, and with documenting PC based client server systems. He has worked with multiple clients to build disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and has project managed successful ISO9000 certifications within the software industry.

John has produced online document systems, working mainly with HTML Workshop, Author-IT, and Help & Manual. He has coordinated with engineers to help produce the right document for the task, providing training, editorial help and document design resources to the project. He has lead document production teams, instigated document control systems, created templates, and provided editorial oversight and style guide management.
 
John values his fine tuned ability to target an identified readership's English and technical ability, using that information to produce the correct document for every situation.
